Episode 2- Halmoni's Kimchee

Queens Memory Presents: Halmoni’s Kimchee

Join us for this listening party with Producer Heidi Shin, Euginia Paik LCSW, and Grace Choi, Founder of the New York Coalition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Churches. We will be celebrating the premiere of the Queens Memory Podcast episode, “Halmoni’s Kimchee.” It’s a nostalgic look at what life was like for Korean Americans in NY in the ‘80s. From quirky Korean church life to the surprising discoveries in the backrooms of corner stores, we follow the journey of two sisters and their grandmother, from Korea to Queens. We’ll take a behind-the-scenes look at the making of this podcast.

We’ll also talk about the mental health impacts of growing up with immigrant parents, and how as a community, we can be responding to the rise in hate incidents against Asian American women in New York today.
