Family Treasures Day at the Voelker Orth Museum

Do you have a memento that carries an important story from your family’s history? Join fellow Queens community members to share that story in an afternoon of historical exploration at the Voelker Orth Museum! The Queens Memory team will interview you about the item you bring and offer guidance on your questions about how to preserve it for future generations. Items can be small personal objects, photographs, or documents such as certificates or correspondence. The Queens Public Library’s Digital Archives team will be available to create an archival quality scan of your photograph or family record that you can take home to share with loved ones. Learn about best practices for archiving and preserving the objects, photos and papers in your home with the help of specialists from the New York State Archives. The day’s program will end with light refreshments outdoors in the museum’s Victorian garden.
