Memories of Migration Exhibit Opening Reception

Join the Queens Memory team at the Queens Museum for the opening of the “Making Community Story Quilts” exhibition! The exhibit features a handmade quilt created at the Flushing Library last summer. To make the quilt, artist Naomi Kuo led community members and guest artists from across Queens in an exploration of textile arts, storytelling, skill sharing, and audio electronics. The quilt they created over 12 weeks captured their families’ migration stories, through both visual design and in audio recordings you can hear by pressing buttons on the quilt.
After brief introductory remarks, visitors will be able to explore the exhibit as well as contribute to it by embroidering on our fabric map of Queens! Light refreshments will be served.
