Memory as Time Capsules Workshop Series: Imagery as a Tool for Remembering

In this workshop, participants will learn from Queens artist and poet Sherese Francis about ekphrastic poetry as a way to engage differently with and meditate on what’s important about the spaces in which we live. Then, we will create our own poetic pieces inspired by image-based prompts for various Southeast Queens spaces to access past and future memories of these spaces. This workshop is part of the Jamaica Flux project, “Art/I/Fact,” which will be a series of time capsule collages inspired by Southeast Queens.

This event is for ages 18 and older. The program will not be recorded, but participants are encouraged to contribute their stories and work products from the workshop with the Queens Memory Project.
